How to opt out yourself

  1. Open https://www.peoplefinders.com/opt-out in a private window.
  2. Choose the public-records removal option and start the removal request.
  3. Enter your name and an email address and complete the CAPTCHA.
  4. Open the confirmation email and click the link within 24 hours, before it expires.
  5. Complete the record suppression form with the details they ask for and submit it.
  6. Allow a few business days for the listing to drop, then check that it's gone.

Who owns it

PeopleFinders is registered as Peoplefinders, LLC and has long been tied to Confi-Chek, a Sacramento data company that also runs PrivateEye, Veromi, and PublicRecordsNow. Confirm current ownership before relying on it.

Lawsuits

  • Illinois Circuit Court, Cook County (2021-CH-05599) · 2024 · $4.89M settlement; final approval hearing November 2024

    Class action alleging Confi-Chek, PeopleFinders' operator, displayed Illinois residents' names and personal details on PeopleFinders.com to advertise subscriptions without their consent, in violation of the Illinois Right of Publicity Act. The class covered Illinois residents whose listings were clicked between November 2021 and January 2023.
