PeopleFinders is one of the older mainstream people-search sites. It publishes your name and known aliases, current and prior addresses, phone numbers, approximate age, and the relatives and household members tied to you. The free preview shows the basics. The paid report adds court records and contact details. None of it is data PeopleFinders gathered itself: it buys public records and other brokers' feeds and resells them.

Why it matters if you're on the job

An address on a people-search page ties your name to where you sleep and to the people who live there. Anyone with a reason to find you can start with your name and end up at your front door, your spouse, or your kids. That is the core risk with these sites, and PeopleFinders is squarely in it.

PeopleFinders is not the household name Spokeo is, but someone searching your name can still land here. The exposure is the same. And the company has a documented habit of pushing this data hard: in 2024, PeopleFinders' operator, Confi-Chek, agreed to a $4.89 million settlement in Eisenberg v. Confi-Chek over claims it displayed Illinois residents' names and personal details on PeopleFinders.com to advertise subscriptions without their consent, in violation of the Illinois Right of Publicity Act.

One trap is specific to this site. PeopleFinders (with an "s") and PeopleFinder (no "s") are two different companies with two separate opt-outs. PeopleFinders traces back to Confi-Chek, the Sacramento data company behind it, though ownership can change, so confirm it before relying on it. PeopleFinder is a PeopleConnect brand. Opt out of one and you are still listed on the other, so people who file a single request often assume they are done when they are not.

How to opt out

In short: find your record on PeopleFinders, submit the opt-out form with your email, confirm through the link they send, complete the suppression form, and give it a few business days to drop. Brokers change their forms often, so confirm the current flow at the opt-out URL before you start. Then run the process separately on PeopleFinder (no "s").

How long until you're back

Plan on reappearing in roughly six months, sometimes sooner. That window is a general rule of thumb from removal-guide experience, not a measured PeopleFinders figure, so treat it as a rough guide. Opting out clears the record you found. It does not stop PeopleFinders from rebuilding one from the public records and broker feeds it keeps buying. A single opt-out is a starting point, not a fix.
