Why this matters more for you

Family of first responders, judges, healthcare workers, and other professionals didn't take the job. They carry the exposure anyway. Brokers list relatives right next to your name on every page. Easy lookup either direction — a single Spokeo page lists you plus relatives, and a search on any one returns the rest.

The threat shape: when an adversary can't reach the professional directly, they sometimes reach for the family. Spouse's workplace. Kid's school. Parents' address. The data trail makes any of these reachable in five minutes.

What's actually exposed

Run a scan on a family member and the typical pattern shows up: name, current address, prior addresses, the link back to the professional, sometimes employment data, sometimes school district. All scraped from voter rolls, property records, and commercial broker feeds.

The cleanup logic works in both directions. Removing a spouse from broker pages also drops some search paths that previously reached the officer/judge/nurse through them.

What law does for you

NJ Daniel's Law — the state statute that lets covered officers, judges, and prosecutors force data brokers to remove their home address — explicitly extends to spouses, parents, and minor children living in the same residence.

The federal Lieu Act covers immediate family of federal judges.

For families of professionals not covered by these statutes, the standard broker opt-out is the leverage.

What we do

Continuous sweeping of broker sites for every household member and adult relatives where they request coverage. Re-checked every two weeks. We file Daniel's Law and Lieu Act demands across the household where applicable.

For the household-level playbook on how to actually run this (what to ask your spouse, what to do about the kids' school directory, how to talk to your mom about her Facebook), see the family privacy stack guide.

If your spouse's workplace or your kid's school wants to coordinate on the way adversaries reach family to get to you, that's something we can support at the organizational level.
