FAQ
Plain-English answers to what people actually ask before signing up. If yours isn't here, write us — we add the ones that come up.
How does the free scan work?
+
You enter your name, address, email, and phone. We sweep 200+ data broker sites in real time and show you everywhere your information is currently exposed. No signup, no credit card, no email confirmation. Results stream in as we find them, usually inside 60 seconds for the first hits and 2-3 minutes for the full result.
Will brokers re-list me after I remove myself?
+
Yes. Most brokers re-list inside 3-6 months — sometimes faster. They rebuild from public records and commercial data feeds that don't pause. A one-time opt-out is a delay, not a fix. We re-check every two weeks and re-file the same day you reappear. That's what continuous sweeping is for.
Why first responders specifically?
+
The job creates enemies who remember. Old defendants. Patients in mental-health crisis. Family members of people you couldn't save. Most never act. The handful who do find your home through the same broker pages anyone else can search. We're built around the threat shape that hits cops, firefighters, EMS, judges, nurses, and their families — not the generic privacy-tool model.
Do you offer a department-wide plan?
+
Yes. Departments and unions can cover every member as a benefit. We work with locals already. See /for-departments for the plan structure, or /department-scan if you want a one-time exposure report on your roster before committing to coverage.
What about my family?
+
Brokers link you to your spouse, parents, and adult kids on the same page — search any one of you and the rest come back. We sweep the household the same way we sweep you. For NJ officers, Daniel's Law explicitly covers spouses, parents, and minor children living with you. For everyone else, the broker opt-out path covers the family the same way.
How long does removal take?
+
First-pass opt-outs go out within 48 hours of signup. Some brokers process within a day; some take 7-10 business days. The full first-cycle removal across 200+ sites usually completes inside 4 weeks. After that, we re-check every two weeks and re-file as needed.
Do you sell my data?
+
No. Never. We use the information you give us only to file opt-out requests on your behalf. We don't sell, share, or rent your data to anyone. We don't use it for marketing beyond what you signed up for. We don't monetize a "anonymized" version of it. The full Terms detail this; the short version is that we exist to remove your data from the broker market, not to add to it.
What if I've already been doxxed or swatted?
+
See /crisis for the immediate action checklist. After the active threat is handled, we run the broker cleanup that prevents the next one. Continuous sweeping matters more after a doxxing — statistically you're more likely to be a target again once you've been one.
How is this different from a free privacy tool?
+
Free tools usually do one of two things: they help you file opt-outs yourself one at a time, or they're a thin wrapper that submits requests once and stops. We do continuous coverage — the every-two-weeks re-check and the same-day refile when you re-list. The opt-out flows aren't hard. The continuous part is what doesn't scale for one person doing it manually.
Do I need to be a sworn officer?
+
No. The service is for first responders broadly — cops, firefighters, EMS, dispatch, corrections. Plus healthcare workers, judges, prosecutors, social workers, and military/veterans. The threat shape is the same: your job creates exposure that a generic privacy tool isn't built around. Family of any of the above counts too.
