Stalking of family

Family stalking routes through you. Brokers link you to your relatives; the stalker uses that to find them.

What this is

Family stalking is when the stalker targets your relatives instead of you, or in addition to you. Your spouse gets followed. Your parents get unfamiliar contacts. Your kid's school sees attempted pickups. The stalker found these people through the broker linkage that connects them to you.

The motivation varies. Sometimes it's because the stalker can't reach you directly. Sometimes it's to maximize harm. Sometimes the family member is itself the target and the stalker uses you as the search term to find them.

Why first responders catch this more

The job creates the threat. The family carries the consequence. Brokers make this trivial — a single Spokeo page lists you, your spouse, your parents, sometimes adult siblings.

For LE, judges, prosecutors, and victim advocates, the pattern is well-documented. The known-stalker variant (an ex, a former defendant) often escalates from the target to the target's family when direct access is harder. The anonymous variant follows the same path.

What we sweep that prevents the chain

We sweep the family the same way we sweep you. Standard opt-outs across 200+ broker sites for every household member and adult relatives where they request coverage. Re-checked every two weeks.

For NJ officers, Daniel's Law explicitly covers spouses, parents, and minor children living in the same residence. We file demands across the full household. For federal judges, the Lieu Act covers immediate family the same way.
