Public defenders

Defenders also catch threats from the people their clients hurt.

Why this page exists

Public defenders catch threats from a less-discussed direction: the victims of their clients. Family members of someone your client killed, hurt, or robbed sometimes blame the entire system, including you.

What we sweep for you

Defenders rarely get statutory cover and the threat pattern runs in two directions — the victim's family resenting a vigorous defense, and occasionally the client themselves after a conviction. We pull yours across broker sites and re-check biweekly. Particular attention to the bar-admission and court-record pipelines, both of which reseed your name with each case appearance.

We sweep the family the same way.

What you should do today, free

Defenders are usually carved out of state broker-removal statutes — those focus on prosecutors and judges. So the broker opt-out is the protection, and the free scan is the starting map. Pair it with bar-association resources where they exist; some state defender offices have negotiated group-rate privacy programs and you might already be eligible. Once you've checked whether your state defender association already runs one, the association member benefit is what fills the gap.
