Why a department-wide plan

Sworn officers are publicly named in coverage of any incident. The name lands on a broker page within hours. From there, anyone with a grudge can pull the home address and use it. Per-officer cleanup is real work; running it across a 200-officer department by individual sign-up is unrealistic.

A department-wide plan covers every authorized member across broker sites continuously, with re-checks every two weeks. NJ-based departments get Daniel's Law demand letters as the leverage point — that's the NJ statute that lets covered officers force people-search sites to remove their home address. Other states use the standard broker opt-out flows.
