- Click the verification link PeopleConnect emails you.
- Enter your date of birth and full legal name.
- Find your record in the results and select it.
- Complete identity verification by email or phone if prompted.
- Set the record to suppressed and save.
- Re-check your name after a few days to confirm the listing dropped. Confirm the current URL and flow before relying on it, since PeopleConnect has changed this page before.
What US Search knows about you
US Search is a people-search and background-check site. It has been online since the 1990s, which makes it one of the oldest sites of its kind, and that age shows in the data. It carries prior addresses going back decades, further than most brokers keep. The paid report adds court records, traffic citations, neighbors, and a list of relatives, all tied to your current name.
US Search pulls from public records, county court aggregators, and commercial data brokers. The assembled picture is the product, not the individual records.
Why it matters if you're on the job
The deep address history is the part that bites. Someone searching your name can pull addresses from your academy years, a prior marriage, or an apartment you left twenty years ago, all linked to the name you use today. Any one of those addresses points to the people who live there now, not just to you.
The court-records aggregation adds a second problem. Old citations from another county, dropped charges, and sealed entries can surface, because county aggregators do not always honor sealing orders and US Search pulls from those aggregators. For a working officer, that report is one document an adversary can buy for the price of a subscription.

How long until you're back
Reappearance in about six months is common. US Search refreshes from court-record aggregators and commercial broker feeds, so a new court entry, even a dismissed one, can re-list you sooner. If you move, the new address often surfaces within a few months from a property record or a change-of-address feed.

Who owns it
US Search went online in the 1990s and was one of the earliest consumer people-search sites. Intelius acquired it in 2010 and kept it running with few changes. Intelius and its parent were bought by H.I.G. Capital in 2015 and combined with Classmates to form PeopleConnect; PubRec, the parent of TruthFinder and Instant Checkmate, merged in January 2020. US Search now shares the PeopleConnect data pipeline with those sites.

PeopleConnect removed the state action to federal court in March 2024; that federal case was terminated November 21, 2024, and the state action MON-L-000484-24 in Monmouth County is now the operative forum.
