How to opt out yourself

  1. Open https://suppression.peopleconnect.us in a private browser window.
  2. Enter an email address and click the verification link it sends. The link expires quickly, so act on it promptly.
  3. Search your name and select the record that is yours.
  4. Set the matching listings to suppressed and submit.
  5. Allow up to 10 business days for the listings to drop across the PeopleConnect family of sites.

Who owns it

H.I.G. Capital portfolio company. H.I.G. acquired Intelius (and its parent Inome Inc.) and Classmates.com in 2015, forming PeopleConnect. In January 2020, PubRec LLC (parent of TruthFinder and Instant Checkmate) merged into PeopleConnect in a deal brokered by Livingstone Partners. Headquartered in the Seattle area.

    PeopleConnect removed the state action to federal court in March 2024. The federal case terminated in November 2024, and the state docket MON-L-000484-24 continues as the operative forum. The federal complaint named PeopleConnect Inc., Intelius LLC, PeopleConnect Intermediate LLC, and PeopleConnect Holdings Inc., with PCHI Parent Inc. identified as corporate parent.

FTC actions

    The FTC found that TruthFinder and Instant Checkmate, both owned by PeopleConnect, deceived users about background-report accuracy and violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act while marketing reports for employee and tenant screening.

    2010

    PeopleConnect inherited the compliance obligations of Intelius's 2010 Washington AG settlement over deceptive negative-option marketing when H.I.G. acquired Intelius in 2015.

State docket MON-L-000484-24 (Monmouth County) covers Intelius, ZabaSearch, PublicRecords.com, TruthFinder, and Classmates. PeopleConnect briefly removed the action to federal court (1:24-cv-04227, D.N.J.) in March 2024; the federal case terminated in November 2024, and the state action is the operative forum.
