What PeopleConnect knows about you
PeopleConnect Holdings is H.I.G. Capital's people-search rollup. The confirmed portfolio is Intelius, ZabaSearch, PublicRecords.com, Classmates.com, and TruthFinder. (TruthFinder joined the portfolio via the January 2020 PubRec / PeopleConnect merger.) The data feeds are shared across the portfolio: same backend, different consumer-facing brands.
One brand commonly mistaken as PeopleConnect's: Instant Checkmate is NOT a PeopleConnect site. It was a PubRec brand pre-2020 and was named alongside TruthFinder in the FTC's $5.8M settlement, but it has since been divested to The Lifetime Value Co. (LTVCo, BeenVerified's parent). If you only file the PeopleConnect central opt-out and skip Instant Checkmate, you're still listed there.
Why it matters if you're on the job
PeopleConnect's data shows up across the portfolio's branded sites. Without the central opt-out, you'd file separate requests at each one. The central opt-out is one of the highest-leverage cleanup actions in the broker market — one filing clears multiple sites at once. But it doesn't extend to LTVCo-owned brands, so don't assume one PeopleConnect request covers your full PeopleConnect+LTVCo footprint.

What we do that's faster
We file the PeopleConnect central opt-out, the LTVCo opt-outs (BeenVerified, PeopleLooker, Instant Checkmate, NumberGuru, NeighborWho), and the rest of your broker footprint as one cycle. We re-check every two weeks. When you re-list on any of them, we re-file the same day. Same drill across 200+ broker sites in parallel.
Who owns it
H.I.G. Capital portfolio company. H.I.G. acquired Intelius (and its parent Inome Inc.) for >$100M in July 2015 and simultaneously acquired Classmates.com for $30M, forming PeopleConnect. Lawsuits
- NJ Superior Court, Monmouth County · 2024 · active
Daniel's Law suit, docket MON-L-000484-24. Master state docket covering the PeopleConnect portfolio.
- D.N.J. (1:24-cv-04227, Hon. Harvey Bartle III) · 2024 · removed by defendants March 26, 2024; terminated November 21, 2024
PeopleConnect removed the state action to federal court in March 2024; the case was terminated in November 2024 (most likely remanded back to state court, where MON-L-000484-24 continues as the operative docket). The federal complaint named PeopleConnect Inc., Intelius LLC, PeopleConnect Intermediate LLC, and PeopleConnect Holdings Inc. as defendants, with PCHI Parent Inc. identified as corporate parent in the disclosure statement — meaningful for the record because Atlas plead the full corporate stack, but the live forum is now state court.
FTC actions
- FTC settlement (TruthFinder + Instant Checkmate)$5.8M2023
FTC named PeopleConnect, Inc. as parent of TruthFinder and Instant Checkmate (then both PeopleConnect-affiliated; Instant Checkmate has since been divested to LTVCo). Action covered deceptive marketing of background-report subscriptions.
- Inherited Intelius's Washington State AG settlement obligations$1.3M (original Intelius settlement)2010
PeopleConnect inherited the compliance obligations of Intelius's 2010 Washington AG settlement over deceptive negative-option marketing when H.I.G. acquired Intelius in 2015.
